West London singer Shakka stopped by the House of Alt last week to record the third in the ever-growing ‘Shakkapella’ series, which has already seen him take on Frank Ocean’s “Thinkin’ ‘Bout You” and Beyonce’s “End Of Time” using only his ridiculously capable voice.
This one’s probably my favourite in the series so far. How he manages to create that house beat that Lazy Jay laid down, I’ll never know… I can imagine a lot of time and love was put into this. Production value is as point as you could ever want, so typical of the House of Alt. Shak’s even changed the lyrics, and mashed it up with Chris Brown’s “Beautiful People”… and to borrow the words of the House of Alt: “if you haven’t seen the original, climb out from under the rock you live”. Check it out HERE and welcome to the real world, I think you’ll like it here.
Shakka is probably one of the most talented unsigned artists I’ve heard in a while… and while the boldness of that statement may be questioned, I urge you to listen to his mixtape ‘The Shakka Crown Affair’ HERE and see what I’m talking about. He’s been bigged up by Delilah, and been on Rinse FM – I think these are just a miniscule preview of what’s to come from this guy. I want this guy to go far, he deserves every bit of success he gets.
Check out Shakka’s cover of ‘212’ below, and go and follow him on Twitter/like him on Facebook at the appropriate links. And, while you’re at it, go and show some love to the guys at House of Alt, some proper quality videos over there, including a rather sick piece of choreography to SBTRKT’s “Something Goes Right”.
